Need for search engines?
Search engines seem to serve a particular purpose — to connect you to information (duh!).
Ultimately these days we need context of the information, which can only be provided by people with expertise in that field.
Many of the basics can be automated … but at a level that will matter in making you competitive in the market place or “going the extra mile” in enriching your relationships, vacations, etc., you must search for people.
So with sources like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter (and smarter natural language processing for knowledge graph access) … how much less will we be relying on search engines in the future?
I don’t think they will necessarily go away any time soon but I think that we have many services that make them much less useful.
If Steven Spielberg walked into USC Medical Center and said, ‘I want to do neurosurgery,’ they don’t give him a scalpel.
Sports agent Scott Boras, making a not-so-thinly veiled reference to Jay Z getting into his business.

Then again, it’s not exactly brain surgery, is it?
